Terminal Spotlight

Terminal Spotlight opens a focused overlay for viewing and switching between terminals and related workspace surfaces. Persistent terminal tabs, docked files, browser tiles, ACP panes, and VibeCast are all reachable from the carousel.

Opening Spotlight

Open Spotlight from any of these entry points:

  • Click a terminal tile.
  • Click a rail card.
  • Click a session preview.
  • Use your configured keyboard shortcut.

Dismissing Spotlight

  • Press Esc.
  • Click the Close button.
  • Click the backdrop outside the card.
  • Double-click on the active card.

Switching items

Navigate between items in the carousel:

  • Click the side chevrons.
  • Swipe horizontally with two fingers on the trackpad.
  • Click a tab in the tab strip above the card for direct jumping.

The tab strip includes scroll controls when items overflow.

Reordering terminal tabs

Drag terminal tab chips in the tab strip to reorder them. A vertical marker shows the insertion point as you drag.

⚠️ Note: Non-terminal items (files, browser tiles, ACP panes, VibeCast) cannot be reordered.

Ordering behavior

  • VibeSpace Spotlight — terminal tabs can be organized across projects.
  • Terminal-board Spotlight — order follows the active board surface tile order.

Sending commands

  1. Type a command in the compose box at the bottom of the overlay.
  2. Press Cmd+Return to send it to the active terminal.

Temporary items

Temporary terminals, file previews, and browser previews do not participate in the carousel. They appear only while active and are not included in the tab strip.
